Portable Chicken Coops

Portable Chicken Coops

If you want to have healthy chickens and fresh eggs, then you will have to provide natural food, proper sunshine and some fresh air to the birds from time to time. Building a portable chicken coop can do this. These portable units are also known as chicken tractors. Here are some major advantages of having a chicken tractor:

1) A portable chicken coop will allow the chickens to scratch the surface and look for bugs to eat. This allows the chicken some extra exercise and supplemental diet.

2) Since the sides of a mobile chicken house are made from wire mesh, it allows for fresh breeze. These units can be built to have a combination of shade and sunshine.

3) This mobile unit allows the birds to get a feel of natural environment and at the same time they are protected from predators by the wire mesh.

4) You can have a main large chicken coop and a portable unit that allows 3 - 4 chickens to get the feel of fresh air. The birds can take turns to get a feel of open environment.

5) If you have space constrains in your backyard, then you can have an additional attachment to the portable chicken coop that allows for nesting and a roost. This way you can have 3 - 4 chickens in your backyard and still get fresh eggs.

6) If you are in a profession that requires regular relocation, then a portable chicken coop is an excellent investment. These units can provide all the basic things a normal chicken house would provide.

7) Planning and building portable chicken coop is relatively easy, simple and inexpensive compared to the large units. The time to build such units is also much less.

finally introduced chickens but...?

We finally got to the point where our original 18 hens and 1 rooster flock and our new batch of 6 chicks are somewhat getting along they were pecked at and attacked as we failed several times to introduce them. finally we decided to let them out of their portable coop we had been keeping them in for a few weeks.they have now been living in the ccop, but they make the older chickens angry because everytime the little ones see the older ones walk by they panic and start flying all over the place.they wont come out of the corner and i think its because they were attacked when they were younger. will they grow out of this or this there a way to break them of this?

pecking order is in progress.. they will adjust themselves in a couple days or weeks.
