Automatic Chicken Coop Door Opener

Automatic Chicken Coop Door Opener

The public is becoming more aware of germ contamination in public restrooms. Television and internet warnings about contracting the H1N1 virus heightened this awareness. People are more careful to avoid touching things like flushers, faucets, dispensers, and doors. After properly washing their hands they want to keep their hands clean. If these devices are automatic or sensor-operated,then it's a simple, touchless process. Nothing gets touched and no germs are picked-up by the hands.

Most public restrooms have at least one of these hands free devices, usually it is a towel dispenser. If one has to operate the towel dispenser, be sure to use your wrist or arm to do so. This a step in the right direction because the towel can be used to turn off the faucet after handwashing. It is pointless to touch anything after cleaning the hands. That same towel can then be used to open the door and then be disposed of in a nearby trash bin. If there is no trashcan near the door, I recommend dropping the towel on the floor so as to alert the establishment to this problem.

That exit door is the weak link in trying to avoid cross-contamination with restroom germs. Some establishments have installed a door opener that allows the restroom visitor to exit without handling anything. There is also what is called the "S curve' exit, a doorless entry/exit in the shape of an "S". You find these in airports, theatres, and other places. Let the establishment know that you are concerned about these matters. After all, sick days are expensive for businesses and students miss out on learning when they are sick at home. In the case of the physically handicapped, a sensor-operated door becomes a must.
