How do I convince my parents to get an alpaca?

What do I need to think about?
I have two dogs. One norfolk terrier and one pyrenean mountain dog.
When we go away we have someone who comes to the house to look after our dogs and chickens etc. so that's not a problem.
Help please.

alpacas arent straightforward-they need a lot of space. do you have proper grazing for one? do you have stabling for it when the weather is bad? they cant be kept in a garden! if it was ill or injured would you recognise the problem before it got serious?
incidentally the suggestion that you get a horse or pony instead is a REALLY bad idea, they are even more work and need even more space. if someone else is going to look after the alpaca when you are away you need to be sure they will be happy enough handling it. would they notice if something was wrong with it? the best thing you could do is read up on alpaca and get as much information as you can. if you still think its a practical option for you and you can honestly meet its needs then you'll be armed with the right information to talk to your parents. By the way, LOVE your choice of dogs.
