New Chicken Coop Glitch Farmville
One of the best new gold-making opportunities that arrived with World of Warcraft's Wrath of the Lich King (WotLK) expansion pack is the small pets niche.
WotLK has introduced the WoW Achievement system, and one of the most attention-getting sets of achievements focuses on acquiring small non-combat pets, or Companion Pets as they are now called.
There are 3 achievements new to WoW that are based on obtaining pets. "Plenty of Pets" requires 15 unique pets, "Plethora of Pets" demands 25 pets, and finally "Shop Smart" asks for 50 non-combat pets. It isn't easy to find 50 different pets in the game, so anyone hoping to reach that ultimate goal is almost certainly going to turn to the auction house to buy many of the pets they just don't have time to go out and find for themselves.
To help players cope with this increased demand for pets, Blizzard has wisely introduced some new game play features to help us manage our collections of critters. Pets no longer take up bag space, as you can "learn" them (just like mounts are now learned). Your non-combat pets are now stored on your character sheet rather than in your bags.
Pets have always been wildly popular in World of Warcraft as distinctive vanity items. The new pet-learning feature makes collecting of small pets more appealing than ever before. Even though most WoW players have always been keen to keep a few choice pets in their inventory, they've been held back from gathering more of them by bag space limitations. Now all of Azeroth is going pet-crazy, and grabbing up all the cute companion creatures they've always wanted.
From a gold-making point of view, the new demand for companion pets, whether it's driven by achievement questing, or by vanity item cool factor, is driving auction house prices for all kinds of pets sky high. Well informed auction house players known that they can buy most of these items from vendor NPCs in the game, generally for less than 1 gold each. In the Lich King era, they can now turn around and sell these low-cost items for prices ranging from 10 gold to 50 gold, for massive gold profits.
The very best opportunities come from supplying cross-faction pets. The idea here is that many of the relatively common Warcraft pets are available to only one faction, either Horde-only or Alliance-only. Since these faction-specific pets are difficult for the opposite faction to obtain, their rarity drives their auction house prices through the roof in the opposing faction cities.
If you want to make a lot of gold fast, the easiest pets to focus on include White Kittens, Cats of all kinds, Dragonhawk Hatchlings, snakes such as the Black Kingsnake and Crimson Snake. And then you can look at rabbit, cockroaches, moths, owls, frogs, and even chickens.
When you are ready to go seriously big-time (and big gold!) with this strategy, you should take a look at the rare drop pets that are now commanding much higher demand and prices in the auction house. For example, Whelplings (Azure, Emerald Dark Whelpling etc.) that used to go for 500 gold or so now sell regularly for several thousand gold each. The trick with these rare items is to learn how to buy and sell on the auction house successfully and for maximum profit - rather than trying to "farm" the items yourself.
If you're looking for a fast and easy way to make plenty of gold in WoW, take a close look at the whole category of Companion Pets. You'll be surprised how easy it can be!
